ABOUT SAAC
The Student Athlete Advisory Committee is a board made up of student athletes who are committed to generating a voice for the student-athlete within the NCAA. One of the main purposes for SAAC is to make other student-athletes aware of proposed NCAA legislation and to recommend legislation to the NCAA regarding certain situations. SAAC is dedicated to promoting a positive student-athlete image within the athletic programs and creating the executive leaders of tomorrow.

CONSTITUTION MISSION STATEMENT
To enhance the student- athlete experience by providing an efficient communication link between the student- athlete population and the college administration regarding areas that helps fosters a positive student- athlete image.

To establish a relationship between the student- athletes and the community by encouraging involvement in campus and community activities.

To encourage unity between teams and among all athletes.

To design, implement and give tools to programs which will encourage academic achievement, health promotion, social responsibility and community service.

MEMBERSHIP
Any athlete who is an active member of any team and are academically eligible according to the current NCAA bylaw of a 2.0 and being a full time student are able to be a representative of S.A.A.C. The head coach of each team selects two student- athlete to represent their team.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
All SAAC. members are expected to attend all meetings. If unable to attend a meeting, arrange that an alternate will be in attendance. Represent the team`s views in committee meetings. Keep the team appraised of current community issues and communicate the team`s views to the committee. Encourage team members to assist with any projects deemed significant by the committee.

OFFICERS
President - Speaks for and represents the committee as a whole. Represents the student-athletes at the Intercollegiate Athletic Board meetings.

Vice President - Assumes President's responsibilities when he/she is absent. Represents the student-athletes at the Intercollegiate Athletic Board meetings

Secretary - Records time/information of meetings; notifies members of meeting dates.

Student Government Association (SGA) Representative - Represents the student-athletes at Student Government Association meetings

MEETINGS
Meetings will be held bi-weekly, during the academic year, to discuss fundraisers, community service, and any issues or concerns of student-athletes. The committee or advisor, if necessary, can call additional meetings when needed.

Meetings will be held during common hour bi-weekly in the Clark Athletic Center.

COMMITTEE GOALS
* Become a mediator between student-athlete and coaches
* Create a strong bond and promote communication between student-athletes and the university
* Build a sense of community within each athletic team
* Develop true student-athlete leaders and improve his or her involvement within the community

BY-LAWS
Failure to meet responsibilities can lead to dismissal of membership.
*Issues are voted upon, one vote per member, and the decision will be based on majority. If the vote is split, the Board will make the final decision.
